Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has accused the government of withdrawing his official security for his participation in the ongoing protests.

In a statement released on Thursday morning, June 26, the outspoken legislator said the move was a direct response to his decision to join Kenyans in peaceful protest against what he described as a government “failing its citizens.”

“Yesterday, I stood with the people, not against the nation, but for its future,” Owino stated. “Today in retaliation, the government has withdrawn my official security.”

Citing the action as an “attack on democracy itself,” Owino warned that punishing elected leaders for standing up for the people signifies a government fearful of responsibility rather than safeguarding public service.

Despite allegedly withdrawing his protection the MP stood firm.

“I do not fear intimidation. I will not be silenced Kenyans are my security.”

Owino urged the public to stay vigilant and united emphasizing that leaders must answer to the people not threaten those who support them.

“The truth cannot be suppressed. The movement for justice cannot be stopped. We will not back down.”
