Four armed robbery suspects three Ugandan nationals and one Kenyan have been arrested following a coordinated security operation across several Nairobi estates.

The operation, which also led to the recovery of three firearms and 50 rounds of ammunition, targeted criminal elements behind a recent wave of violent robberies in Nairobi and Western Kenya.

The suspects identified as Sipholi Sam Wafula alias Sande, Ogomba Alex, Mohammed Musa, and Wafula Clinton—were tracked down by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Crime Research Unit, supported by the Intelligence Bureau and the elite Operation Action Team.

The crackdown, conducted on Thursday, May 22, spanned Dandora, Saika, Pumwani, and Huruma estates, where the suspects were arrested in separate but coordinated raids.

Sipholi Sam Wafula was the first to be apprehended and led detectives to his rented house in Saika, where officers recovered a loaded Falcon pistol hidden under a pillow. His arrest paved the way for the capture of Ogomba Alex in Dandora, whose home concealed an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds under a couch.

Further leads brought detectives to the Huruma residence of Mohammed Musa, who was identified as the owner of the AK-47 rifle. Investigations revealed that Musa and his two Ugandan counterparts had crossed into Kenya via the Malaba border on May 21 after allegedly fleeing following a violent robbery in Eastleigh.

Meanwhile, Wafula Clinton, a Kenyan national believed to be the gang’s mastermind, was arrested in Pumwani. A search on his person revealed a loaded Palleberum Feg 9mm pistol tucked in his waistband.

Police say the arrests thwarted an imminent robbery planned for a business premise on 12th Street in Eastleigh. Additional suspects linked to the plot are believed to be in hiding but have already been identified and are being pursued.

The four arrested suspects have been handed over to DCI Starehe for processing. An identification parade is scheduled ahead of their arraignment.

Police have vowed to intensify operations against cross-border criminal gangs, warning that Nairobi will not serve as a haven for organized crime.
