Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on President William Ruto to implement government reforms and policies with the same urgency that was applied during his impeachment process.
Speaking at a burial service in Kabare, Kirinyaga County, Gachagua emphasized that proposals like the Coffee Bill 2023, which he introduced, should receive the same level of attention as his impeachment motion, which he claimed was rushed through both the National Assembly and the Senate.
“The speed they used to remove me should be used to pass the coffee bill. It should be approved at night, published in the Gazette, and in the morning the president should be asked to sign it. The speed of my removal was extremely fast,” Gachagua stated.
He clarified that he holds no grudge against Ruto but urged him to fulfill the promises made to Kenyans during the 2022 campaigns.
Alcoholism is a menace in Mt Kenya region.
Gachagua also appealed to the Mt. Kenya region to remain united and move forward together.
He urged the government to continue the fight against alcoholism, stating, “Those now in power shouldn’t bring back this alcohol so that my work seems pointless. It’s not just me you’re hurting; you’re hurting other children as well.”
