Tim Cook CEO Apple

Apple has announced the stepping down of CEO Tim Cook, who served for 15 years with the technology giant company.

John Ternus, Apple Senior Vice President of Hardwar Engineering, now officially takes over as the CEO from September 1, while Cook moves into a new role as Executive Chairman of the company’s board.

Cook thanked the company for trusting to run the institution, “It has been the greatest privilege of my life to be the CEO of Apple and to have been trusted to lead such an extraordinary company.”

He joined Apple in 1998, becoming CEO in 2011 after succeeding co-founder Steve Jobs. During his time, he introduced products such as the Apple Watch, AirPods and Vision Pro, while expanding services such as Apple Music, Apple Pay and Apple TV.

Under Cook stewardship, Apple grew from a market capitalization of $350 billion to over $4 trillion, cementing its place as a global technology powerhouse. He also championed environmental responsibility, pushing Apple toward carbon neutrality and greater supply chain transparency.

John Ternus joined in 2001, currently leading the Hardware Engineering teams responsible for the iPhone, iPad and MacBook.

He is expected to continue Apple’s tradition of innovation while steering the company into new areas such as AI, augmented reality and health technology, as he is known for his technical expertise and collaborative leadership.
