President William Ruto has announced that members of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party have officially joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Ruto made the announcement on Tuesday while addressing the UDA National Governing Council (NGC) meeting held at State House, Nairobi.
The President congratulated the former ANC members for what he described as a bold political move, saying their decision would strengthen UDA’s national outlook and unity.
“I want to congratulate our colleagues from ANC for making a bold decision to join UDA as we continue to build a broad-based and inclusive political movement,” Ruto said.
Ruto further revealed that several other political parties have also joined UDA in the meeting in a move aimed at consolidating political support under the ruling party.
Among the parties representatives that who were present included Chama Cha Mashinani, led by Isaac Ruto; the Kenya Union Party (KUP) led by former West Pokot Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo; the Kenya African National Union (KANU); and the Democratic Party, led by Alexander Mundigi.
The President said the growing number of parties joining UDA demonstrates confidence in the party’s leadership and its development agenda.
