World 5,000m and 10,000m record holder Beatrice Chebet has been named the Female Athlete of the Year 2025 by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA).
Chebet earned this prestigious continental honour following an exceptional 2025 season that cemented her status as one of the greatest distance runners of her generation.
She shattered the women’s 5,000m world record at the Prefontaine Classic, blazing to a historic 13:58.06 to become the first woman ever to run under 14 minutes.
Her brilliance continued at the Tokyo World Championships, where she achieved a remarkable 5,000m and 10,000m double, claiming gold in 14:54.36 and 30:37.61 respectively.
