Lawyer Miguna Miguna has asked former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua to challenge his impeachment in higher courts up to the Supreme Court.

Miguna said it would not matter if the courts will rule against Gachagua, but he should do it for the record.

By challenging his impeachment, the lawyer said the former deputy president would expose the supposed emptiness of the charges that were used to depose him.

"To Rigathi Gachagua, fight all the way to the Supreme Court. It doesn’t matter if they rule against you. Do it for the record," said Miguna.

The lawyer said he is a firm believer in the right to a fair trial and zero tolerance for impunity.

"We firmly believe in, and are committed to, genuine democracy, constitutionalism, rule of law which includes the right to a fair trial, respect for human rights, and zero tolerance for impunity," he added.

Gachagua has since been replaced by Kithure Kindiki who was sworn in to occupy the Office of the Deputy President on Friday, November 1.

The swearing-in ceremony came a day after High Court judges lifted the conservatory orders that had barred Kindiki from assuming the office.
