The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has called for stronger trade and economic ties between Kenya and Brazil as the two countries explore opportunities for increased commercial cooperation.
UDA Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar held talks with Brazil’s Ambassador to Kenya, João Alfredo dos Anjos Junior, during a courtesy call at the party’s headquarters at Hustler Plaza.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations, with particular attention to expanding trade, deepening economic cooperation and identifying new areas of engagement between Kenya and Brazil.
Omar said Kenya has significant potential to increase its economic presence in Brazil by taking advantage of the South American country’s large market to create opportunities for Kenyan producers, businesses and exporters.
He called for practical measures to turn the longstanding diplomatic relationship between the two countries into stronger commercial and people-to-people ties.
The UDA Secretary General said greater access to the Brazilian market could provide Kenyan businesses with opportunities to expand their reach beyond traditional markets.
The discussions also explored areas where the two countries could benefit from their respective economic strengths, markets and available opportunities.

Ambassador João emphasised the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration in identifying areas of mutual benefit between Kenya and Brazil.
The meeting comes as UDA continues to engage international partners on areas linked to economic cooperation and its Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The party said strengthening international partnerships remains important in creating opportunities for trade, investment and economic growth.
Omar was accompanied by UDA party directors during the meeting.
João’s appointment as Brazil’s ambassador to Kenya was approved by Brazil’s Senate in April 2026, with his mandate also covering Uganda, Burundi and Somalia.
