Nairobi hosted a diplomatic celebration of the Day of German Unity, marking 36 years since East and West Germany were peacefully reunited.
The event brought together H.E. Ambassador Sebastian Groth and Investment, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui, who joined in commemorating Germany’s historic journey reaffirming the strength of Kenya-Germany relations.

“As we celebrate Germany’s journey of unity, we also celebrate the friendship between our two countries and reaffirm our commitment to deepening this partnership for the prosperity of both our peoples,” Kinyanjui said.
Germany remains one of Kenya’s most important economic partners in Europe, with over 120 German companies operating in Kenya, many of them also serving the wider East African region.

These firms contribute to trade, investment and industrial growth, reinforcing Kenya’s position as a hub for regional commerce.
The partnership extends beyond economics to climate action and renewable energy joint initiatives that support sustainable energy solutions. It also supports skills development through programs that enhance vocational training and workforce to readiness.
It fosters environmental conservation, where shared projects aim at protecting ecosystems and biodiversity. Sustainable economic development will be ensured, with a long -term strategies as part of inclusive growth.
