Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo has said he is safe after his vehicle was involved in a road accident in Kikuyu on Monday evening.
Gisairo said the crash happened at around 8pm as he travelled to Nairobi from his constituency.
According to the MP, his vehicle was hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu D-Max that was registered to Isuzu Kenya and leased to the Ministry of Interior.
“Yesternight, as I was coming to Nairobi from my constituency, we were involved in an accident after being hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu DMax (KDX961T) registered to Isuzu Kenya and leased to the Ministry of Interior,” Gisairo said.
The impact caused the other vehicle to lose control before rolling onto the road shoulder, according to the MP.
Gisairo said his driver managed to stop their vehicle despite losing the rear right tyre in the crash.
He added that he and his team helped the two occupants of the other vehicle before traffic police arrived at the scene.
The two occupants were later taken away in a government vehicle, Gisairo said.
The MP said he experienced muscle pulls following the impact but remained in stable condition.
He also said the incident had been reported to the relevant agencies and investigations were ongoing.
Gisairo claimed that the Ministry of Interior had identified the two people who were in the vehicle as well as government officers who allegedly took them from the scene.
“I can confirm that I have reported the matter to the relative agencies and they are cooperating in the investigations and the ministry has identified the two persons in the car together with the other ministry officers who whisked them away,” he said.
The MP said he expected the matter to be fully investigated and that officers found culpable would face disciplinary action in accordance with the law.
He thanked members of the public and his supporters for checking on him and sending messages following the accident.
Gisairo has in recent months been involved in the Linda Mwananchi movement, where he has taken part in public mobilisation activities.
