President William Ruto has launched and inspected several infrastructure and energy projects in Migori County as part of his development tour of the Nyanza region. The projects include roads and electricity infrastructure aimed at improving connectivity and supporting economic activity.
In Awendo, the President launched the upgrading of the 32-kilometre Kanyawanga–Kwoyo–Madiaba–Dede–Odongo Oher–Rapogi–Awendo Road. Kenya Rural Roads Authority has previously advertised the project for upgrading to bitumen standards.
The head of state also launched the Nyarobiro–Kombe–Masaba–Nyangubo–Getonganya–Ikerege–Taranganya Road and the Posta–Nyirongi Road in Suna East.
The projects are expected to improve movement between rural areas and markets, supporting farmers, traders and residents. The President also inspected the ongoing 20-kilometre Stella–Sibuoche–Gogo Falls Road in Uriri, which is among the road projects included in his Migori itinerary.
In Kuria West, Ruto commissioned the 28-kilometre 132kV Awendo–Masaba Transmission Line and the 132/33kV Masaba Sub-Station.
The projects are expected to strengthen electricity transmission and expand reliable power supply for households and businesses.
The President later engaged residents in Migori Town as he continued his development tour of the region.
