President William Ruto’s daughter Charlene Ruto has secured temporary court protection over reports linking her to a Sh2.8 billion police uniform tender.
The High Court has barred the Standard Group from publishing or circulating allegations connecting Charlene to the procurement deal.
The court order follows a case filed by Charlene after reports raised questions over her alleged links to Nalitex Limited, a company mentioned in connection with the tender.
Charlene has denied any involvement in the procurement process and challenged the reports linking her to the deal.
A key twist in the case came from the National Police Service, which clarified that Nalitex Limited was not involved in the tender.
The police service said the company did not participate in the procurement process, was not awarded the tender and did not receive any payment from the deal.
The NPS identified Bedi Investments Limited as the company that was awarded the police uniform tender.
Charlene’s lawyers argued that the reports created a false impression that she was connected to or benefited from the multibillion-shilling deal.
The Standard Group has been given time to respond to Charlene’s case as the legal battle continues.
The court is expected to revisit the matter on October 19, 2026.
The latest orders are temporary and do not amount to a final ruling on whether the allegations published by the media group were true or false.
