Students waiting to know what is happening with their HELB loan applications do not have to keep visiting the Higher Education Loans Board offices for updates.
HELB has reminded applicants that they can check the progress of their applications using its online portal, USSD service and mobile application.
The options allow students to follow up on their funding from their phones and find out whether an application is still being processed or if further action is required.
Applicants using the HELB online portal can log into their accounts and check their loan information and application status.
For those individuals that would want to use the USSD code, HELB added that they should dial *642# and proceed accordingly following the steps.
Other than downloading the HELB mobile app, learners will be able to check on the loan details and track their application process from the comfort of their mobile phones.
The notice comes in the backdrop of the board still continuing to accept applications for loans under various educational funding schemes.
One of the programmes currently open is the 2026/27 Jielimishe Loan, which provides salaried learners with loans of up to Ksh600,000 to support university, postgraduate, professional and other approved higher education programmes.
HELB has also opened applications under the Civil Servants Training Revolving Fund, through which eligible employees can access education loans of up to Ksh500,000.
The programme covers employees in national and county governments, the National Police Service and the Teachers Service Commission.
Various loan schemes aim at assisting learners and working Kenyans to cater for higher education expenses.
For applicants who have already submitted their applications, the tracking options offer a simpler way to follow up without making a trip to HELB offices.
HELB is encouraging applicants to use the available digital channels to stay updated on their loan applications as the various funding programmes continue.
