The Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry Lee Kinyanjui has held discussions with a Nakuru-based organisation working to expand economic opportunities for women, youth and persons with disabilities.
Kinyanjui met a team from the Women and Youth Empowerment and Advocacy Centre (WYEMAC), led by Executive Director Jennifer Cheruiyot, to explore possible areas of collaboration.
The organisation brings together women, young people and persons with disabilities, linking them to opportunities in economic empowerment, enterprise development and sustainable livelihoods.
“When we fail to recognise the good in society, we risk glorifying the bad. We must deliberately celebrate the people and organisations making a positive difference in our communities,” Kinyanjui said.
The Cabinet Secretary particularly welcomed the organisation’s Taifa Excellence Awards, which recognise community-based organisations and individuals contributing to social good across 11 categories.

Kinyanjui said recognising individuals and organisations making a positive impact was important in inspiring others to embrace enterprise, service and positive social change.
“Recognition matters. By shining a light on those transforming their communities, we not only celebrate their contribution but also inspire others to embrace enterprise, service and positive social change,” he said.
The meeting also explored possible partnerships aimed at strengthening economic opportunities for women, youth and persons with disabilities while ensuring their contribution to Kenya’s development is recognised and supported.
