The National Police Service (NPS) has launched a capacity-building and financial management programme for police officers in the Eastern Region as part of efforts to strengthen financial discipline, personal wellbeing and service delivery.
The two-day training programme was officially opened on Wednesday, July 22, at the Embu Regional Training Centre by Eastern Regional Police Commander Stephen Chebet, Assistant Inspector General (AIG).
The programme brings together 40 civilian and uniformed officers and is being conducted in partnership with facilitators from Mwalimu Biashara, led by Kennon Mbae.
Speaking during the launch, Chebet underscored the importance of sound financial management, saying it is a key pillar of effective leadership and professional performance.
“Financial discipline is the bedrock of strong, focused leadership,” Chebet said, urging participants to actively engage in the training and apply the knowledge gained in both their personal and professional lives.
The training is designed to equip officers with practical financial management skills, promote responsible financial planning and enhance their overall wellbeing.
According to the National Police Service, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve the welfare and professionalism of officers while strengthening service delivery.
The launch was attended by Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander Amos Ambasa, Staff Officer for Logistics Gladys Rutere, and other senior officers and instructors from the Embu Regional Training Centre.
