“The Ministry of Health has launched a three-day Community Health Assessment Data Verification exercise in Ol Kalou Sub County, Nyandarua County, beginning with Kiambaga Ward, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community health systems and enhance primary healthcare service delivery,”statement read.

Speaking during the launch, Mary Muthoni emphasized that accurate, timely and reliable community health data is critical for effective health planning, equitable resource allocation and evidence-based decision-making in advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

She noted that strong community health systems form the foundation of preventive and promotive healthcare and are essential in ensuring quality health services reach households across the country.

Ol Kalou Sub County has made notable progress in implementing community health programmes. Its 258 Community Health Promoters have registered 18,920 households on the electronic Community Health Information System (eCHIS), with 15,990 households representing 85 per cent having received follow-up visits for routine community health services.

The Principal Secretary commended the efforts of Community Health Promoters in supporting household-level healthcare services and strengthening the country’s primary healthcare system.

The data verification exercise will continue across the remaining four wards of Ol Kalou Sub County before being rolled out in other parts of the country to strengthen preventive and promotive healthcare through data-driven planning and improved community health service delivery.

The Ministry said the initiative will play a critical role in enhancing the quality of community health data and ensuring that interventions are tailored to the needs of local communities.
