President William Ruto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming Lamu County through infrastructure development, improved security and inclusive economic programmes during his second day of the Coast region tour.

Speaking in Lamu County, President Ruto said the government has successfully contained insecurity in the area, paving the way for accelerated development projects aimed at unlocking the county’s economic potential and improving residents’ livelihoods.

The President launched the tarmacking of the Showground-Lamu-Red Cross Centre-Safirisi-Ndeu roads and several access roads in Hindi town. He said the road projects will improve connectivity, ease transport and stimulate business activities in the region.

The head of state also flagged off the Hindi Last Mile Connectivity Project, which is expected to expand electricity access to more households and businesses in the county.The Head of State noted that the government is focused on ensuring residents benefit from development initiatives that create opportunities and uplift communities across Lamu County.

He further emphasized the importance of unity in development, saying the government is working with leaders from across the political divide to deliver inclusive projects that leave no one behind.

During the visit, President Ruto also inspected the ongoing construction of the Hindi Modern Market in Lamu West Constituency. He said the facility will provide traders with a safer, cleaner and more dignified working environment while boosting local commerce.

The projects form part of the government’s broader plan to enhance infrastructure, improve security and expand economic opportunities across the Coast region.
