The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has officially ushered in a new leadership team, with Bishop Dr. Kepha Nyamweya Omae sworn in as Chairperson alongside seven commissioners during a ceremony presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome at the Supreme Court of Kenya.

The commission said the fourth cohort of commissioners takes office at a critical period in the country’s political landscape, with a mandate to promote national unity, combat hate speech, and strengthen peaceful coexistence among Kenyans.

“The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has officially ushered in its 4th cohort of Commissioners, as Bishop Dr. Kepha Nyamweya Omae was sworn in as Chairperson alongside seven Commissioners before Chief Justice Hon, Martha Koome at the Supreme Court of Kenya,”statement read.

In his inaugural remarks, Chairperson Bishop Dr. Kepha Nyamweya Omae emphasized the importance of peace and national cohesion, stating that “No election, no office, no ambition is worth the blood of a Kenyan.”

The newly sworn-in commissioners include Dr. Josephine Kirion Eragae, Joseph K. Nguyo, Jackson Swadi Kedogo, Dr. Samuel Mwachiro Mwawasi, Irene Chepoisho Tulel, Hassan Billow Ahmed, and Jerusah Mwaathime Michael.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to addressing divisions in society, enhancing institutional cohesion, and fostering inclusivity regardless of ethnicity, region, or political affiliation.
