Two suspected drug traffickers have been arrested in Kilifi following an anti-narcotics operation that led to the recovery of cannabis sativa valued at approximately Sh4.2 million.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led operation conducted by detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit based in Kilifi.
“In a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation, Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) based in Kilifi raided a house in Kisumu Ndogo area of Kilifi town, where they arrested the two suspects: Eisha Mzungu Kalama and her accomplice, Jamal Chilumo Chiraga,”he said.
The operation targeted a house in the Kisumu Ndogo area within Kilifi town, where detectives apprehended the two suspects identified as Eisha Mzungu Kalama and Jamal Chilumo Chiraga.
During a search at the premises, officers recovered two and a half sacks of cannabis sativa wrapped in brown khaki paper. The narcotics, weighing approximately 142 kilograms, were allegedly prepared for distribution.
The suspects were escorted to Kilifi Police Station alongside the recovered drugs, where they are currently being processed pending arraignment in court.
