President William Ruto is set to host a tightly packed line-up of African leaders, global partners and business heavyweights in Nairobi as the Africa Forward Summit gets underway on Monday, May 11.
The programme for the day paints a picture of a summit driven by finance, leadership and high-level engagement, beginning mid-morning with the arrival of AfDB President Sidi Ould Tah at 10:00am.
His early slot signals the weight being placed on financing and investment conversations expected to dominate the summit.
The late morning hours will see a steady stream of African heads of state, starting with Alassane Ouattara at 11:00am, followed by Julius Maada Bio at 11:30am and Joseph Nyuma Boakai at noon.
Their back-to-back presence underscores the central role African leadership will play in shaping the discussions.
Attention then shifts to continental leadership in the afternoon, with Mahmoud Ali Youssouf scheduled for 3:00pm, before Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema follows shortly after at 3:30pm.
One of the most anticipated moments of the day comes later in the afternoon, when Emmanuel Macron is expected for an extended engagement running from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, highlighting the summit’s focus on strengthening Africa–France relations.
The day will close with a shift toward private sector influence, as industrialist Aliko Dangote takes the final slot at 6:30pm, bringing business and investment into the spotlight at the tail end of the programme.
The sequence of events reflects a carefully structured summit, beginning with financial institutions, moving through political leadership and ending with global partnerships and private capital.
As Nairobi hosts the high-level gathering, the schedule itself offers a glimpse into what is at stake, Africa’s leadership, its partnerships, and the economic direction the continent hopes to chart in the years ahead.
