The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Referees Committee, together with the Instructors’ Technical Group has suspended three match officials following a review of a recent SportPesa League fixture.
In a statement, the decision was reached during a virtual meeting held on April30, 2026, where the match footage, referees’ assessor reports and technical evaluations of officiating performances were assessed.
The referees found to have repeated errors in critical league matches, including penalty calls, inconsistent foul recognition and poor match management.
The referees Phanuel Omire, Samuel Kuria and Edwin Bobiya were found not to have officiated to the standards expected at the SportPesa League level.
FKF stated the officials will remain under close monitoring and evaluation by match commissioners, assessors and instructors with future appointments and possible returns to top-tier matches.
FKF remains committed to maintaining high officiating standards, accountability and continuous capacity development for matches across all competitions.
