Inter-Religious leaders are raising alarm over what they say is a worrying trend of political intolerance, warning that the trend could undermine Kenya’s economic stability and social cohesion.

They argued that a politically peaceful environment is a key factor for uninterruptible economic progress, especially when Kenya is amidst recovery from both global and local economic issues.

However, they cautioned that if the political tensions persist, the danger of neglecting the steps taken towards economic recovery and development will continue.

Meanwhile, the religious figures caution the evolving strategy of mobilizing groups of youths to commit violence during political occasions.

They termed this practice very harmful and appealed to the politicians to show more self-control and aim at peaceful resolutions.

They called on political leaders, irrespective of their differences, to have discussions, follow the laws, and focus more on the nation’s unity rather than the politics of division.
