Tuju Charged Over False Abduction Report Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has been summoned to a Kibera Law Court in Nairobi on a charge of giving a false statement to a police officer.
Prosecution alleges that on March 1 2026 in the Karen area, Tuju allegedly reported the Officer Commanding Station at Karen Police that he had been kidnapped but it was later revealed that the report was made up to lay the charge against him.
Tuju who was brought before Kibera Chief Magistrate Stella Atambo denied the charge and pleaded not guilty. Through his lawyer, Edward Oonge, Tuju urged the court to release him on bail, arguing that the offence he faces is a misdemeanor and does not warrant continued detention.
Atambo released him on a personal bond of 100,000 shillings, setting April, 15 2026, as the date for confirmation of compliance for the release of his vehicle among other issues.
