The National Land Commission on Monday issued a press statement responding a to amedia article published by the standard media group. In the article, the media house had raised questions concerning the acquisition of land associated with Grassyl Ltd.
In response to the published article, NLC on March 9th argued that all the processes were followed and dismissed allegations of irregularities in the land acquisition process.
The commission explained that the acquisition formed part of the government’s intention to obtain land for public use.
They argued that he processes involved public notices inviting objections from interested parties before the review of related documents.
Additionally, the commission noted that Grassyl Ltd had a valid lease for a period of 99 years starting in 1998.
The commission argued that the company held legitimate legal interests that had to be considered during compensation discussions and termed the report as biased noting that it misinterpreted the facts and failed to seek commission response before publishing the story.
The NLC reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and adherence to the Constitution and urhed media houses to ensure accuracy while reporting on public matters.
