A senior police officer linked to the killing of his wife has turned himself in at a police station in Naivasha as detectives in Nairobi continue probing the death of a 43 year old woman found inside her apartment in Roysambu.
The officer, identified as Daniel Macharia Mburu, is attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road. He is currently being held in Naivasha and is expected to be moved to Nairobi for further questioning.
The victim, Florence Nyagah, was discovered dead in her house at By Faith Apartment along Lumumba Drive in the Roysambu area. Police from Kasarani Police Station responded to the scene after receiving a report that a body was lying in one of the units.
According to a police report, officers led by the Officer Commanding Station, together with detectives from the DCI and crime scene investigators, found Nyagah lying on her back in the sitting room of her second floor apartment. There was blood near the doorway leading to the corridor and stains on the door frame.
Preliminary findings show that she had suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest as well as a deep cut on her forehead. Investigators recovered a knife without a handle that had blood stains and was hidden under a kitchen table. The weapon is believed to have been used in the attack.
Detectives believe the incident occurred on February 28. Reports indicate that Nyagah had been in the house with Mburu on the night before her death.
Nyagah worked as a hairdresser at Freddyz Salon located at Platinum Plaza. She was last seen alive on the afternoon of February 28 at around 3.41 pm during a video call with her daughter.
