Everything is in place for the by-election in Isiolo South Constituency which is slated for 26th February, 2026, with the election officials promising residents a peaceful and credible election.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has stated that all the 61 polling stations in the constituency are ready for the elections.

Returning Officer Abdi Sheikh mentioned that the polling stations would be operational from 6am to 5pm and he encouraged the voters to come out early and participate in the election in a peaceful manner.

There are 22, 216 voters registered in the constituency who are expected to turn out in the mini poll that will elect Isiolo South’s new MP.

Sheikh, ahead of the by-election, urged the candidates and their supporters to be very polite to each other and follow the election, related laws in their entirety.

He also mentioned that the commission is ready for election day with necessary logistics and the security situation is thoroughly maintained for a transparent election.

Security personnel have been deployed in sufficient numbers at all polling stations and at the main tallying centre at Garbatulla High School as locals urge for peace before, during and after the elections.

The race is a case of sibling rivalry, pitting UDA’s Tubi Mohamed Tubi against his Sister Bina Tubi who is contesting on the Jubilee Party ticket. The Seat fell vacant following the death of their father Mohamed Tubi Bidu in November Last year.

Local leaders and members of the community have requested the security agents to maintain order and safeguard the integrity of the election.
