A domestic aircraft carrying 50 passengers veered off Taxiway Echo shortly after landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Sunday afternoon, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has confirmed.
The flight, which originated from Elwak airstrip in Mandera, landed safely at JKIA before the incident occurred. All passengers and crew were safely accounted for, and no injuries were reported.
KAA said airport emergency response teams were immediately activated in line with established safety procedures. Airport operations continued normally, with no disruption to flights.
The authority added that it is working closely with relevant aviation agencies to facilitate the safe removal of the aircraft and to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a statement, KAA reassured the public of its continued commitment to the safety, security, and efficiency of airport operations.
The statement was issued by Dr Mohamud Gedi, the Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Airports Authority.
