President William Ruto today, Monday, December 15, at State House, Nairobi, hosted Truphena Muthoni, who hugged a tree continuously for 72 hours, in an attempt to break her own Guinness World Record.

Muthoni’s embrace is a symbolic gesture aimed at raising national and global awareness of environmental conservation and climate change.

President Ruto lauded the 22-year-old, saying her dedication and determination embody the very best of the nation’s spirit.

In recognition of her course, the head of state appointed her as an Ambassador of the 15 Billion Tree Planting Campaign, a signature national initiative dedicated to securing Kenya’s environmental future.

Further, the head of state announced that the Kenya Wildlife Service and the Kenya Tourism Board have extended to her and her team a fully sponsored holiday experience.

"In addition, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry will support the realisation of her dream to visit Brazil, broadening her exposure to global conservation initiatives and environmental leadership," said Ruto.

To sum it up, President Ruto conferred the Head of State Commendation (HSC) to Muthoni as a mark of national honour for her exemplary service to environmental stewardship.
