Kenyan entrepreneur and musician Akothee has called upon her fans to help report and take down TikTok accounts that have been mocking the condition of Raila Junior Odinga.
Taking to Facebook, Akothee was furious about what she described as “humiliation in the name of content.” She asked her fans to rally together and do something about individuals who use people’s personal problems to get views and likes.
“Can someone help me with these accounts please? I just need five of them and this challenge will be sealed. We cannot stand and take this kind of humiliation in the name of content,” she wrote.
The artist also mentioned that content creators should allow the Odinga family time to mourn and transition, rather than turn a sensitive situation into an internet joke.
Her post comes as the public is increasingly outraged after several TikTok users posted videos mocking Raila Junior. The trend has been criticized by most Kenyans, including public figures like Esther Musila, as inhuman and disrespectful.
Akothee’s appeal has since gone viral, with hundreds of netizens taking up the matter with her and reporting the offending videos and also calling for greater regulation of online content that promotes ridicule or cyberbullying.
