The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a major investigation into a massive health care fraud scheme after receiving over a thousand files from the Social Health Authority (SHA) and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
The DCI announced today that it has received 1,188 files detailing suspected fraudulent activities by individuals and organizations. These alleged crimes have undermined the government’s efforts to provide quality health care services to Kenyans.
"A new multi-agency team led by the DCI has been formed to quickly review the files. The goal is to ensure that anyone involved in health care fraud, regardless of their social standing or political connections, is brought to justice," read the statement by DCI Liaison & Corporate Communication John Marete.
