Kenya’s Harambee Stars battled to a 1-1 draw against Angola in their second match of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) at Kasarani Stadium on Thursday night, despite being reduced to 10 men in the first half.

Angola took an early lead in the 12th minute when Jo Paciencia found the back of the net following a slick move down the wing by Antonio Da Silva.

Kenya responded swiftly, leveling the score just five minutes later. Austin Odhiambo converted from the penalty spot after being brought down in the box by Afonso Marques.

The hosts’ momentum was dented midway through the first half when Marvin Nabwire was shown a red card for a challenge on Alem, leaving Kenya to play the remainder of the match a man down.

Angola thought they had snatched a late winner when Joao Manha powered in a header in stoppage time, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review, preserving the 1-1 scoreline.
