President William Ruto on Thursday lauded the national football team, Harambee Stars, for their resilience and determination during a hard-fought draw against Angola in their latest international fixture.
In a statement shared shortly after the match, President Ruto celebrated the team’s performance, highlighting their bravery and patriotism despite being reduced to 10 men early in the game.
“What a valiant display of skill and endurance by our gallant Harambee Stars! Reduced to 10 men early in the game, you stood tall, fought hard and covered every blade of grass on the pitch to hold Angola to a commanding draw,” said the President.
He noted that the team’s display was more than just a football match—it was a showcase of Kenyan spirit.
“What you displayed this evening was not just football; it is the Kenyan spirit on show for Africa and the world. Courage. Grit. Patriotism.”
President Ruto congratulated the players and promised to honor a prior commitment.
“You have made us proud. Hongera vijana! Na niko na deni yenu vile tulikubaliana!”
