The rehabilitation and expansion of the Sh80 million Etio Dam, that was unveiled last year, has been completed.

The project will benefit over 8,000 households in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

According to president William Ruto, the upgraded dam, with a storage capacity of 160 million litres, is expected to boost agricultural productivity in the region.

“The Etio Dam Phase I Project will help put more than 2,500 acres under irrigation. This will boost the cultivation of passion fruits, avocado, cabbages, kales and potatoes, hence creating jobs and increasing household income,” said president Ruto.
