The government has set aside KSh 13 billion to ensure that all Social Health Authority (SHA) registered Kenyans have access to free Primary Health Care (PHC) services.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has reassured Kenyans that all PHC services are now free in public health facilities across the country.
This move aims to make quality healthcare accessible to all.
“Every registered Kenyan is fully covered under the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF). No patient should part with a single shilling for PHC services,” Duale affirmed.
The free services cut across a wide range of essential healthcare needs: from consultations, diagnosis and treatment, lab tests, X-rays, and medication, to mental health counselling, immunizations, maternal and child health services, and even the management of chronic illnesses like diabetes and hypertension.
He urged county governments and health workers to strictly enforce the policy, ensuring no Kenyan is denied care or dignity when seeking treatment.
