The New Generational Aspirants (NGA) party on Friday convened a Leadership and Governance Conference to Sensitize the Youth on the crucial issues sidelined by the current leaders.
The event was graced by Prof. PLO Lumumba, who urged and encouraged the Youth to go for elective positions regardless of the challenges faced in the political environment.” I am glad to be here with young Kenyans who want to take positions of leadershipand service. I strongly believe that our country needs a generational change.” Lumumba stated
Lumumba further noted that Kenya’s politics should be conducted on basis of issues, not on the basis of ethnicity and bribery.
He urges the young generation to realize their potential in leadership and noted that this is the right time to come out and demonstrate.” I have had the opportunity to talk to these young people and I have no doubt in my mind that they can do it. They want to do it without due regard to political party affiliation. They should do it because they are Kenyan patriots.” he said
According to Lumumba, Gen Z should take leadership because the older generation has squandered opportunities and it is their duty to so.”When individuals who have been in the political space for 20 years still parade themselves as the solution to Kenyan problems. The solution lies in the hands of young people guided by old and well-meaning people. It is not true that all old people are wise, It is not true. Some are old and are not wise.”he stated
Dr. Ben Ngigi, the National Treasurer, NGA, echoed same sentiments, realizing that the New Generation are the voice of the young people.”We are saying that we are here to train our young people on issues to do with leadership and governance.” he noted
Ben condemned the recent events from the June 25 killings of the young people orchestrated by the government, who have hired the goons to destroy property to kill the young people.”What we are advising the young people is to look ahead, to have a vision” he
NGA is a platform that offers political leadership for all young leaders. “You can see all the young leaders who have come for this occasion, and what we are asking the young people is that they should look ahead. They should have a vision and they should have hope in themselves.” he added
