Kenyan Member of Parliament Peter Salasya is trending again for aligning himself with Generation Z in a statement that’s got the internet talking.
In a recent moment of candid reflection, Salasya declared: “Sisi Gen Z ni watu funny.” Yes, sisi — meaning he proudly includes himself in the group often seen as the digital-savvy, bold, and boundary-pushing generation.
The youthful MP, known for his humorous takes and relatable energy, opened up about Gen Z’s shifting attitudes toward life and relationships. According to him, this generation is no longer tied to old-school traditions like marriage. Instead, freedom and flexibility are the new priorities.
“We don’t like marriage life,” Salasya explained. “We want freedom everywhere.”
His remarks echo a global trend — younger people are delaying or even rejecting marriage in favour of personal growth, financial independence, and emotional wellness. And Salasya doesn’t view that as a flaw; in fact, he sees strength in Gen Z’s mindset.
He admitted that life is tough for the youth today, but their drive and determination shine through when they’re focused on a goal.
“Maisha ya Gen Z ni ngumu,” he said, “but very focused when he or she wants to achieve something in life.”
His comments sparked amusement and admiration online, with many users calling him “the Gen Z MP” or “the cool uncle of Parliament.” Others praised him for truly understanding the daily struggles and dreams of Kenya’s youth.
