As the government subjects various agencies to budget cuts, the anti-graft body will be exempted.
President William Ruto has said the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has been underfunded for a long time.
In addition to sparing the EACC the austerity measures, Ruto directed the National Treasury to consider increasing funds for the agency to operate efficiently.
In March EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak directed staff to adopt austerity measures to mitigate the budget challenges.
He said there was a need to raise the budgetary allocation to the commission by Sh702,531,854 to enable it to discharge its mandate well.
According to Mbarak, EACC has an approved workforce of 1, 108 staff but in the last six years they have worked with half of this number.
“Very good staff leave the EACC because since 2004, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission has refused to review staff salaries claiming we are overpaid. This has a negative effect” Mbarak said.
