Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has reaffirmed the Kenyan government’s full commitment to implementing the recommendations issued by inspectors from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ahead of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The remarks came during a high-level meeting with CAF 3rd Vice President and head of the CHAN Organizing Committee, Pierre Alain Mounguengui, who is leading a three-day inspection tour of Kenya’s preparedness to co-host the prestigious continental tournament. The CHAN 2025 will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in August next year.

CS Mvurya highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the three East African nations, revealing that discussions are at an advanced stage to facilitate the free movement of fans, players, and CAF officials across the borders during the tournament.

This regional cooperation is expected to ensure smooth logistical coordination and boost tourism and cultural exchange during the competition.“We are fully committed to meeting the required standards and timelines to deliver a successful championship. The collaboration with our regional partners is vital in achieving this goal,” said Mvurya.

CAF’s Mounguengui lauded the progress made by the co-hosting nations and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver a world-class tournament.

However, he emphasized the importance of expediting the remaining preparations at designated venues to ensure full readiness before the kickoff.“The commitment shown by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania is commendable.

We urge all stakeholders to accelerate the remaining works to meet CAF’s requirements in time,” he said. The CHAN tournament, which exclusively features players competing in their domestic leagues, is expected to attract thousands of football fans from across the continent, offering a major boost to the region’s sports tourism and economy.
