Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has been charged with inciting violence between the Luhya and Luo communities through his social media posts.
Salasya was arrested on Friday, May 16, while on his way to Isiolo to engage the youth on governance and the 2027 General Election.
He spent the weekend in custody and was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts on Monday, May 19, where he faced charges of incitement.
According to the charge sheet, Salasya was accused of posting inflammatory statements that profiled Luos as the number one enemies of Luhyas.
Salasya, who was represented by city lawyer Echesa, denied the charges and was granted a bond of KSh 500,000 and an alternative cash bail of KSh 200,000.
