Kenya Power gave an update after a three-hour power cut that affected most parts of the country on the morning of Wednesday, December 18.

In their first update at 1:28 AM, they announced that the power outage was affecting almost all areas of the country, except for the Western and North Rift regions.

Though they didn’t specify the cause of the outage, Kenya Power mentioned that they were working to fix the issue and restore power.

The statement read, “We are experiencing a widespread power outage affecting most of the country except parts of Western and North Rift regions. The cause of this outage is yet to be determined. 

“We regret any inconvenience this may have caused and request our customers to be patient as we work towards restoring normalcy at the earliest opportunity,” 

In a follow-up update at 4:55 AM, Kenya Power announced that power had been restored in most parts of the country, including areas of Nairobi and the Mount Kenya region. Their statement read,

“We are pleased to report that power has been restored to most parts of North Rift, Central Rift, Western Kenya, Southern Nyanza, and sections of Nairobi and Mount Kenya regions following a widespread outage. Our team is diligently working to restore supply to all the remaining areas. We thank our customers for their patience as we work towards full restoration of normal service,”
