Youth in Matungulu East Ward have been challenged to demonstrate the zeal in the democratic process by registering as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Jonathan Mutinda, the Matungulu East MCA aspirant, through a youth engagement forum, urged the youth to be part of the democratic process by registering as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election. The meeting which gathered youth leaders from the ward to discuss leadership, governance and their role in shaping the community’s future was very interactive.
At the forum, Mutinda highlighted the necessity of the youth to vote and pointed out that the youth are the largest number of voters and therefore have the power to change the leadership.
The youth leader was confident that if the young people took part in the registration they would be the ones dictating terms to the leaders after the elections. They have to be the ones to elect such leaders who are ready to serve the community with honesty and hard work he said.
Mutinda also advised the youth to maintain their interest in civic issues even after the elections. These may include, but not limited to, ensuring that leaders are accountable and taking part in the community development projects.
Another point raised at the forum was providing a platform for the youth to air their grievances and share their dreams. The topics discussed deeply were unemployment, education, entrepreneurship, and participatory leadership.
With such an atmosphere of political readiness, the country looks forward to the 2027 General Election. This period is characterized by the leaders and aspirants’ concerted effort to rally up the youth in turning up for voter registration and participation in the democratic process.
