Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan has stepped up to defend her husband, Shakeeb Lutaaya, following mockery of his English ahead of his appearance in an upcoming Netflix show.
In a bold statement on social media, Zari hit back at critics, saying their focus was entirely misplaced. “Oh, we can’t wait to see Shakeeb’s English? Let’s talk about the fact that my husband is going to be on Netflix,” she posted. “You with your perfect English, literature, and accents—look at yourselves. My husband is stepping onto the biggest platform in the world, Netflix, and you’re here talking about his English. Look at your life.”
Zari celebrated her husband’s success, calling it a “winning season” and expressing her excitement about his future. “He’s winning at everything. And with Netflix, bigger opportunities are coming. Who knows, he might even surpass me and make it to Hollywood,” she added.
She also took aim at those who criticized Shakeeb’s language, suggesting their jealousy was the real issue. “I see how some of you are starting to fall in love with my husband now because he’s the guy, but remember, you mocked us from the start, saying this is all I could get,” Zari remarked.
