Police are currently investigating the murder of a young woman in the Jua Kali area of Embakasi, which occurred on Monday night.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that the incident was brought to their attention by three local residents who responded to a distress call after hearing a commotion near their homes around midnight.
According to reports filed at the Embakasi Police Station, the three residents arrived to find two unknown men assaulting a young woman, believed to be in her early 20s.
Upon noticing the approaching responders, the two suspects fled into the darkness.
“Police, including Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel from the Nairobi area, arrived at the scene and discovered the unresponsive body of the woman, with her underpants lowered and visible strangulation marks on her neck,” said the DCI.
The woman’s body has been taken to the City Mortuary for identification and an autopsy, while the suspects remain at large.
