President William Ruto has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening ties with France, describing the European nation as one of Kenya’s closest and most longstanding allies.
Speaking after holding bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in Seville, Spain, President Ruto emphasized the importance of the Kenya-France partnership in promoting global cooperation and reforming international systems.
“France remains one of our closest allies whose diplomatic ties go back many decades. Kenya is committed to nurturing this relationship to deepen bilateral cooperation and promote even closer collaboration,” Ruto said.
The two leaders discussed a wide range of multilateral issues, including the push to reform the global financial system under the Pact for Prosperity, People, and Planet, an initiative co-chaired by Kenya and France.
President Macron reportedly reaffirmed his support for Kenya’s leadership role in advancing a more inclusive and equitable international financial architecture, with both leaders pledging continued collaboration on global development challenges.

Looking ahead, President Ruto announced that Nairobi will host the France-Africa Summit in 2026, a landmark event expected to further cement diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between France and African nations.
“We look forward to building on this momentum at the France-Africa Summit in Nairobi in 2026,” Ruto added.
The meeting between Ruto and Macron comes at a time of increased cooperation between Nairobi and Paris, especially in areas such as infrastructure, renewable energy, education, and climate change.
