Former President Uhuru Kenyatta celebrated his 63rd birthday today by encouraging Kenyans to maintain peace.
During two separate live calls with Kameme FM presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba and Milele FM presenter Ankali Ray, an upbeat Uhuru shared that he was doing well despite his recent silence.
Currently in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, for the 15th High-Level Retreat on the Promotion of Peace, Security, and Stability in Africa, he expressed gratitude for the birthday wishes from Kenyans and emphasized the importance of peace for national prosperity.
While he usually celebrates his birthdays with family, this year he noted, “Mara hii nimesafiri kidogo bado tuko kwa ile mkutano imenileta hapa, lakini pia hapa tutakua na wenzangu na labda tutaenda lunch pahali ama kitu kama hicho mkutano ikiisha.”
When asked to select a song for the station to play in his honor, he chose gospel song “Hakuna Mungu kama wewe”.
He also requested “I Got You Babe” by UB40, dedicating it to his wife, former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
His request delighted the Milele FM presenter.
