The Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has narrated how he landed the job.

Coming days after President William Ruto held a surprise meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta, many opined that Kabogo’s appointment was influenced by the former president.

However, in an interview on Monday, the former Kiambu governor insisted that Uhuru had nothing to do with his appointment, terming the linkage as a creation of the people.

"Kenya is a vibrant nation with rumours, people just make up things. The appointment came just after President Ruto visited Ichaweri. It had nothing to do with that visit. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta did not call me. I haven’t spoken to him in quite a while," said Kabogo.

Kabogo narrated that he had received a call from President Ruto the day before the appointment, informing him that he was working on something and was looking for someone.

He said he was surprised to learn from the media the following day that he had been appointed as the ICT CS.

"The only call I got the previous day was from the President and he said he was looking at stuff and there was something he was working on. The next thing I saw it on the bulletin. I have nothing to gain or lose in terms of telling the truth. That is how it came to me. I was very surprised," Kabogo added.
