The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced plans to replace former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua as the deputy party leader.
UDA secretary general Omar Hassan said Gachagua will be replaced by Kithure Kindiki, the deputy president nominee.
Hassan said as part of the UDA constitution, the deputy president also stands in as deputy party leader and since Gachagua had been impeached, he must give way to other leaders.
The leadership changes will be made and officially announced when the court gives the green light for Kindiki’s swearing-in.
Notably, Gachagua moved to court to stop the swearing-in of Kindiki and the case is currently being heard at the High Court in Nairobi.
