The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its engagement with Kenyans living abroad, describing the diaspora as a critical partner in advancing the country’s development agenda and the party’s broad-based movement.
UDA Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar Hassan made the remarks while hosting Broad-Based Diaspora Team Chairman Sam Ronoh, who paid a courtesy call at the party’s headquarters following the conclusion of a month-long engagement programme between Kenyans in the diaspora and various government agencies.
During the meeting, Senator Hassan commended members of the Kenyan diaspora for returning home to witness the progress made under the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
He said the diaspora’s continued participation and support are vital in promoting national development and strengthening collaboration between Kenyans abroad and institutions at home.
The Secretary General also pledged to champion the formal launch of the Broad-Based Diaspora Movement later this year, following what the party described as a historic endorsement by Kenyans living across the globe ahead of the 2027 General Election.
According to UDA, strengthening the broad-based movement across the diaspora and fostering closer collaboration among the party’s global offices remains a key strategic priority as it seeks to deepen engagement with supporters outside the country.
Also present during the meeting were UDA Director of Events Planning and Logistics Samuel Mwangi and Director of Political Affairs, Resource Mobilization and Diaspora Rob Jillo.
