Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, in collaboration with the Operations Support Unit, have arrested Brian Andore, who had reported kidnapping of a woman he purports is his wife.
Andore had claimed that Mercy Awuor was abducted by unknown assailants who lured her with a job opportunity and were demanding a ransom of Sh150,000 for her release.
He reported the incident to Kitisuru Police Station in Nairobi on November 9, prompting an immediate rescue operation by a team of detectives.
The investigation led to the arrest of the first suspect in the Gitaru area.
However, upon questioning, it was revealed that the phone number Andore claimed was used to demand the ransom had not been involved in any such communication.
Further investigation led the detectives to Oldonyo Orok in Narok South, where they found Mercy with George Odada and two young girls.
It was then discovered that Odada, not Andore, was Mercy’s husband. The couple had been married for six years and had a five-year-old daughter.
Mercy explained that she had been in an affair with Andore but had decided to end the relationship and reconcile with her husband, Odada.
Mercy Awuor, falsely reported kidnapped.
This decision appeared to have prompted Andore to fabricate the kidnapping story in a desperate bid to regain her.
Both Andore and Mercy have been arrested for further questioning as the investigation continues.
