Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya has confirmed that investigations into the Todonyang massacre, which left 41 people dead and dozens injured, are being conducted by the National Police Service since the incident occurred within Kenya’s borders.

Appearing before the National Assembly Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee, the CS stated that DOD is in the process of acquiring land in Turkana to set up a military base to prevent such incidents from occurring again. 

Soipan stated that following the 22nd of February Massacre, additional troops were deployed and patrols were enhanced along the border point.

The defence chief says they are collaborating with Ethiopia to keep the peace and ensure trade is not hampered through extra checkpoints.
